tax id number for internet work?

I have found a good sideline with affiliate marketing, but they ask for my social security number or a tax id number. I am a student, and was wondering what getting a tax id number would be like. Would I need to file taxes quarterly, instead of yearly like I do now? Also would I have to file business taxes and my personal taxes? How much more complicated would the tax situation be if I got the number? would I need to file every year on the business even if i did not make any money that year. and finaly would the affiliate marketing companies be paying me, or would they be paying a business i own, and i would have to pay myself from that. I just plan to put their adds on my websites, and then they send me the checks. Which is the best way to go with this, I am really confused.
So if I apply for the tax id number, and give it to the companies instead of my social security number, I can just file my regular taxes and show the money I make from it on a schedule C, plus a schedule SE. The companies said that they would not be withholding taxes, so if that is more than $1000, I have to file quarterly? How much are the penalties if I file at the end of the year instead of quarterly?

Do not get a tax ID number unless you have employees or are a corporation or are a partnership, or a trust. It is just more paper work you do not need.

How do you end a 3.5 year relationship?

I have no clue what to do. We have been together for so long&our lives our basically intertwined, but our goals&future plans are completely different. Everything he wants out of life, I don’t and its hurts so much, but it just isnt going to work. He claims I don’t support his dreams, but that not it at all. He dream is to make millions doing affiliate marketing/running his own online business. It consumes all of his time&doesn’t care about anything besides his business. Its just not the kind of life i want to live,and he cant seem to understand that.

I would just tell him that you have been doing a lot of thinking and you guys both want two different things in life and you must have grown apart…. This way he might open his eyes and see that you aren’t supporting his dreams you just want different things for yourself and that he would be better off with someone who wants the same things out of life like him… Hope this helps!! NEED HELP! offshore tax havens, income tax, company registration..?

Hello,

Starting two online based businesses. Not selling hard goods or storing products. Revenue sources will be affiliate marketing and downloadable products (exercise programs, eBooks etc.)

I was advised to incorporate offshore since I technically don’t have a business “presence” in a specific location. The main reason is for liability protection.

If I incorporate offshore but I remain a “resident” of Canada, am I taxed on only my personal income (salary i pay myself) as the corporation is viewed as a seperate entity? Locally based businesses are required to pay corporation taxes but Canada has no jurisdiction in those offshore locations (Nevis, Panama, Cayman Islands).

Note: I don’t plan on maintaining my Canadian “residency” for long as I will be travelling all over the world with no sure plan to return. I have no ties here (real estate, kids, wife, businesses etc.)

Any information would be great.

Whie you are a Canadian resident, the CRA may try to look into your “tax avoidance” arrangement:

- whether the marketing and downloadable products were created in canada and if so, whether fair mkt value has been paid by the tax haven company

- “mind & management”: whether you in fact has mind and management of that offshore company, which may cause that company to be a cdn company

- “agency relationship” – whether that offshore company is a your agent in business, and thus all its revenue belongs to you.

- “sham doctrine” – whether the offshore company is in name only, and that you are the mastermind and person running the business especially when there is no employee in that offshore company, .

See the supreme court decision of the Dominion Bridge case in 1976, and the Spur Oil decision in 1981. See also the Fraser decision of 1966 when a real estate developer sold a property thru a newly incorporated company was considered to have sold the property by himself and the corporation profit should be reported by himself instead.

The Canada Revenue Agency may consider applying seciton 245 “General Anti Avoidance Rule” to your arrangement. Therefore, seek professional tax advice and proceed with caution.

Relationship Advice Needed Please?

I could really use to advice..I’m so confused&dont know what to do. Lately I feel like my boyfriend just doesnt care about spending time with me&just doesnt feel the same anymore (even tho he denies it) We have been together for 3.5 years not&are 21&22 years old, so its not like a teenage relationship where its carefree&u get to spend every second together. We both work&go to school, But I try to still make time for us because its important to me. He is also big into affiliate marketing&is trying to make money online. So of course everything else comes first..I’ve beem trying to get him to do some thing with me lately, like golfing. He told me no, he didnt have time¬ until his class was over (he always complains about hanging out cuz he needs to study) So he tells me today, he’s going golfing with his brother&friends. Makes no sense right…he told me he cant make time to go with me, but he can go with them? Also i would like to take a trip together this summer(i even offered to pay for the whole trip, cuz he doesn’t have alot of $$) he said no, because he doesn’t want to be away from his online business&it wouldnt be fun just us too. Yet he is planning a trip in august with his cousins&friends to go to new york..again makes no sense right?
He even told me today that we would hang out one day this week&then he was “off the hook for the next week&weekened” meaning we dont have to hang out..Off the hook..like who says that to their girlfriend. Also 11 is what he likes to call out curfew..so after 11pm he basically boots me out of his house. He says its a good time for him, so that way he can go do his business or play video games with his brother. All i want to do is spend time with him because i love him more than anything, but by all this stuff he has been pulling i feel like he doesn’t feel the same way I do. What do you think? doesn’t it seem like hes not into me anymore?

Sorry but, in my opinion I would say that he does not love you any more. You are the one making all the effort by trying to hang out, go places, and you even tried to talk about it. Right now it seems that he sees you as an annoyance. At that point, the more you push the more he will pull away. You might have to let him go.
But after 3.5 years I know that would be very hard to say good bye. So do this You start separating yourself from Him. Stop asking to visit him or hang out. Only call him 1-3 times a week. Start Hanging out and going on trips with your friends. After a while if he starts trying to connect with you again, be open to talk with him and see where it goes from there. But if after a month of two he puts in no effort then you know that it is time to move on.

3. Could you advertise for spiritual retreat centers and get commission and referral fees?
